How Levitra Is Taken

Levitra should always be taken according to your doctor’s instructions and the instructions on the label. Each dose is taken with a glass of water either with or without food. It is taken a maximum of once every 24 hours, and only when needed – this is usually 60 minutes before sexual activity.

Levitra will help with erectile dysfunction only when sexual stimulation occurs. If you have a painful erection or if it lasts for a number of hours you should contact your doctor as this may lead to damaging the penis.

Levitra is taken in a pill, usually in doses of 2.5 milligrams, 5 milligrams, 10 milligrams and 20 milligrams. The tablets are round, orange and film-coated.

If you miss a dose – there is no regular dose of Levitra required since it is only taken when it is needed.

If you overdose – if you feel that you have taken too much of the medicine (more than one pill every 24 hours) you should contact your doctor. You may start to experience symptoms such as vision problems and back or muscle pain.

Side Effects of Levitra

When you experience vision loss you should not take any more of the drug and seek medical help immediately. The same is true if you experience an allergic reaction to the drug, for example hives, breathing difficulties and swelling of the face.

There are rare side effects of Levitra. During sexual activity you may become dizzy or experience numbness and tingling. You should contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms and cease sexual activity.

Other serious side effects include:

  • Ringing in your ears
  • Sudden hearing loss
  • An irregular heartbeat
  • Swelling of the hands, feet or ankles
  • Vision changes or vision loss
  • An erection that is painful or that lasts for several hours
  • Whilst taking Levitra you may also experience less serious side effects. These can include a warmth in areas such as your face or neck, a headache, back pain or an upset stomach. If you experience any other troubling side effect then you should contact your doctor.
